ENDODONTIC (ROOT CANAL) THERAPY
Have you had or heard of an endodontic procedure or root canal before? If so, you aren't alone. Root canals are a very common and safe procedure that is performed at our office. You may need a root canal if the pulp, which is the inside of your tooth, becomes inflamed. Some indications you may need a root canal are:
-
Severe pain while chewing or biting
-
Pimples on the gums
-
A chipped or cracked tooth
-
Lingering sensitivity to hot or cold, even after the sensation has been removed
-
Swollen or tender gums
-
Deep decay or darkening of the gums

During the procedure the dentist will remove the inflamed pulp, clean and shape the inside of the root canal and lastly fill and seal the space. The total procedure usually takes about 1.5 hours. Our office is equipped with an Er:YAG dental laser to aid in these procedures which provides optimal modern advantages over conventional methods. Many of the root canal procedures done at our office relieve the patient of any pain they were experiencing from pulp inflammation. The first few days after your treatment you may feel a bit sensitive and any discomfort can be relieved from over-the-counter or prescription medications.
